Ottawa is Canada's Capital City and it is also the fourth largest city in Canada. It is located in Eastern Ontario at the junction of three large waterways and is minutes away from Gatineau, Quebec. The National Capital Commission maintains 90 flower beds located at over 30 different sites within the city. In the Summer months, the tulips are replaced by a breathtaking sea of annual blooms. Canada's Capital Region is also ablaze with colour in the Fall. A drive or hike through Gatineau Park is a must. The natural pristine beauty of this seemingly endless park is heightened with the red, rust, orange and yellow foliage of the frost bitten deciduous trees which are set against the green glory of the walls and walls of coniferous vegetation.

On a rainy day there are any number of exhibitions and collections you can visit at the Museum of Civilization, the War Museum and the Aviation Museum. Ottawa is a city of celebration, offering visitors a year-round calendar of festivals and special events. It all starts with Winterlude, North America's best known winter festival which is held the first three weekends of February. Many visitors travel to Ottawa during Winterlude to skate on the Rideau Canal. Located in the heart of the city, this canal becomes one of the worlds longest skating rinks. In May, the Canadian Tulip Festival brings people out by the dozens to enjoy the return of warm weather as millions of tulips bloom in beds across the Capital. The summer months are celebrated with the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest and the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. Canada Day, which is celebrated on the 1st of July, is the country's largest annual birthday party. Many events are held right on the grounds of Parliament Hill. At Christmas, millions of lights are glowing on Parliament Hill and other federal buildings to celebrate the Christmas Lights Across Canada event.
